WGU Labs built two AI study tools to target a high-stakes final exam in the Leavitt School of Health. Historically, nursing students need multiple attempts to pass the exam. In our pilot, more than half of the students passed on their first attempt.
The main takeaway? This pilot is a proof of concept for intentional AI design in higher education. We intentionally designed PathoPro Tutor around learning science and learner experiences: it offers personalized feedback, repeated practice, and low-stakes preparation in a format that mirrors the final exam.
Our findings are still emerging as students complete the course. We are committed to following the data wherever it leads. We will continue to apply these findings as we design and refine AI-enabled assessments and feedback experiences.
